Benefits of eating Apples


 Apple as a medicineApples have been grown mainly in Asia and Europe. Apple, though eaten raw most of the times, it is also used in the preparation of jam, smoothie and desserts. Apple is good for pitta and kapha body types. Antioxidants in apple provide medicinal value.

Apple lowers the risk of death from heart disease and maintains brain health. It relieves bleeding gums and over salivation. It can also reduce risk of cancer. Chewing apple thoroughly, an hour after meal, results in clean tongue and teeth. In case of digestive problems, do not eat the peel of the apple as it is hard to digest. Boiled apple pulp with a pinch of nutmeg, saffron and ghee can stop diarrhea and dysentery. People with diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and those who are overweight can have apple in limited quantities.
